Osteobus Campaign Poland – case study & summary

The examination took place in 21 locations throughout Poland with nearly 10,000 km travelled by Osteobus (mobile osteoporosis centre) to check the condition of Polish women's bones.

The „Osteobus Extra” campaign took place in May and lasted 10 days. Osteobus visited 8 locations in Greater Poland voivodship. It was the first preventive action of BADANIA.PL using this type of diagnostic equipment. The campaign was conducted by the Neuca Foundation and the Pratia Clinical Research Center – in Skórzewo near Poznań. The action was well widespread and helped diagnose over a dozen cases of developing osteoporosis.

After the first joint campaign with BADANIA.PL and Mobilne Centrum Diagnostyki Osteoporozy, we started the study in Greater Poland voivodship. In July, Osteobus appeared in 7 locations. More than half a thousand women started densitometric testing – bone density. During the July campaigns, over 40 cases of osteoporosis were diagnosed and detected.

After Poznań and its vicinity, the mobile osteoporosis centre moved to Katowice for a 4-day operation. During the August preventive campaigns aimed at examining osteoporosis, slightly more than 300 women aged 55+ participated. The test again confirmed osteoporosis in a dozen or so females.

Further joint actions of BADANIA.PL, Pratia and the Mobile Osteoporosis Diagnostics Center took place in Warsaw and Katowice. In September more than 300 women were examined in the mobile diagnostic centre. Another dozen or so confirmed cases. We supported the last of this year campaign in Częstochowa. In November 147 women were examined during a two-day campaign.

Summary

To sum up, in Osteobus campaigns supported by BADANIA.PL and Pratia examined 1,290 women who took part in free bone densitometric tests. Thanks to such tests, it is possible to stop the disease, and by implementing treatment, it can prevent fractures.
