Pratia MCM Kraków offers a wide range of diagnostic tests and medical consultations.
Diagnostic tests provide valuable information that is the basis for a reliable and accurate diagnosis of many diseases.

All tests are carried out by experienced and qualified employees using high class medical equipment. With the exception of laboratory tests, all diagnostic consultations and services require prior telephone or email reservations.

Tests available at the Center:

Bone mineral density testing, i.e. diagnostics of osteoporosis or osteopenia, is carried out using the highest-class densitometric Lunar apparatus made by the American company General Electric, enabling measurement of bone density in children and adults in the following areas: spine, hips (femoral neck), of the whole skeleton. Densitometry is an x-ray examination, it is painless and does not require undressing for the patient or special preparation. It usually lasts 5-10 minutes. Densitometry is contraindicated during pregnancy and 3-5 days after isotope tests. Our device is annually inspected by a representative of Synarc company responsible for quality control in European centers. Tests are performed by experienced technicians with international certificates.

Ultrasound tests are performed with the Acuson SEQUOIA 512 apparatus, which also has the function of a color Doppler. We perform ultrasound scans of: heart (echocardiography) of venous vessels (deep veins, superficial veins and perforators, mapping of valves before surgery) and arterial vessels (carotid, vertebral, iliac, upper and lower limbs, ophtalmic artery, aorta) and many others (abdominal, breast, thyroid, assessment of arteriovenous fistulas for dialysis). The tests are performed by an experienced specialist certified by the Polish Society of Ultrasound Medicine, dr Małgorzata Mielnik.

Examination involves looking at nail shafts under a microscope. It lasts a few minutes and is completely non-invasive and painless. Before the test, remove the nail polish and the tips. The nail cuticles should not be removed for several days before the examination and it is recommended to gently brush the area around the nail shafts for several evenings, especially for people with thickened skin, to reduce the thickness of the epidermis and increase its transparency. This examination is one of the auxiliary examinations and in some cases is useful in diagnosing the cause of Raynaud's phenomenon, but it does not determine the diagnosis. It should be remembered that you can have Raynaud's disease and a capillaroscopic examination might not show any irregularities. The examination is performed by Beata Kwaśny - Krochin, MD, PhD. Video capillaroscopy is a modern variant of traditional capillaroscopy, in which capillary loops are assessed using a special cap attached to a camera that sends the image onto the computer monitor. This test is characterized by good reproducibility, ease of execution, safety, as well as lack of invasiveness, it is painless, and its advantages compared to standard classical capillaroscopy include the possibility of obtaining larger magnifications (up to 200 times), the possibility of archiving the obtained images, as well as their electronic printing and sending and sharing via so-called teleconsultation.

Laboratory tests

Laboratory tests are in many cases an indispensable tool in the differential diagnosis of many disease entities. The Center collects samples for a wide range of laboratory tests (blood, urine), routine, hormonal, rheumatological, immunological, bone markers and many others, which are performed in the renowned Medical Laboratory Center "Diagnostyka” [“Diagnostics"] and other cooperating laboratories. All laboratory tests are carried out with the highest standards to protect our patients' health. The samples are collected from Monday to Friday during the Centre's working hours. Our registration provides detailed information on the patient's preparation for the test, which is a condition for obtaining good quality results.

We perform electrocardiographic examination using a high-class 12-lead ECG machine. This examination illustrates the recording of the electrical activity of the heart and thus enables the detection of numerous cardiovascular diseases. In many cases, an ECG is a necessary test for diagnosis as well as the monitoring of pathological conditions and treatment effects. ECG tests are performed in our Center by qualified nurses and electro radiology technicians and the following reports are interpreted by experienced physicians. The ECG is performed every day during the Center's working hours (reports are normally available on the same or the next day).

ECG - Holter monitoring

This is a study of electrical heart function over a longer period of time (24 hours or 48 hours). Continuous ECG recording allows you to assess dynamic changes in the heart, which you will not get in a resting ECG. Holter ECG is performed if there are bouts of shortness of breath, fainting, or palpitations. It enables to show, among other, arrhythmias, but also evaluate the heart rhythm after implantation of the pacemaker. The recording equipment is installed on the patient - electrodes connected to the ECG recording device (small box) is glued on the patient's chest. The patient wears the recorder for a day or two and is asked to write down the activities performed and any ailments and to indicate the time of their occurrence. During the study physical activity is important to examine the heart's response to physical exertion. After a certain time, the device is removed, the ECG is taken, the specialist cardiologist reads and describes the test.

Specialized consultations

Specialized consultations in many fields of medicine are provided by experienced doctors and clinicians. Most of our doctors are employees of recognized medical centers in Krakow, among others: Collegium Medium of the Jagiellonian University, L. Rydygier’s Specialist Hospital, Krakow Rheumatology and Rehabilitation Hospital, Military Clinical Hospital.

In our Center, the patient has the option of obtaining full diagnostics, treatment and, if necessary, obtaining qualifications and referral for further treatments. Pre-registration is carried out in our Center for all consultations.
