Pratia opened its newest Research Center in Plovdiv. It is the 22nd for the company in Bulgaria and covers 18 Therapeutic Areas, including Oncology and Oncohematology. The Site has a specially equipped infusion room with six stations. It is located 520 square meters just above the emergency department of Plovdiv UMBAL and is an outpatient clinic suitable for conducting Clinical Studies from the II to the IV phase.
Due to its central location, Plovdiv is the most convenient city for travelling Patients. A study on the attitudes of Bulgarians towards Clinical Trials, commissioned by Pratia in December last year, indicates that 21% of Bulgarians express a willingness to travel to participate in Clinical Trials related to cancer. They are surpassed only by those with Cardiovascular problems (25%).
"At Pratia, the Patient is always at the center of our efforts. As a platform that knows its Patients well, we can offer access to innovative therapy to residents of smaller communities. This is the reason why we chose UMBAL Plovdiv as the place to house our most innovative center in Bulgaria. Many Patients visit the medical facility, and Plovdiv is a convenient travel destination. UMBAL Plovdiv is also where we can count on a team of medical specialists in as many as 18 therapeutic areas, with the main priority to the needs of our patients being oncohematology and oncology," says Dr. Martin Kosturski, Country Head of Pratia Bulgaria.
Sharing her experience of working on Clinical Trials in serious oncological diseases, Dr. Kasimova, Head of the Medical Oncology Department at MBAL Dobrich, notes that there is a significant improvement in Patients in an advanced stage of their disease. "In addition, she says, through clinical trials, Patients gain access to a greater range of research compared to the current standard, which contributes to better targeting of therapy, long-term care, and follow-up."
According to INFARMA data, Bulgaria is in 13th place in Europe regarding the market share of Clinical Trials of all phases. In Bulgaria, Pratia has experience with over 400 Clinical Studies in which over 10,000 Patients have participated.
"The opening of the new Pratia center in Plovdiv is a continuation of the company's global strategy for patient-oriented clinical trials, relying on the high professionalism of medical experts and modern technologies. A standard that we follow in all 6 European countries in which we operate, proven by our experience with over 1,500 clinical studies and the trust of more than 300,000 patients who participated in them, is now available to Bulgarian patients," adds Łukasz Bęczkowski, Pratia COO.
